About Alex
Alex was born and raised in Massachusetts. When he was 25 he hiked the entire Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine. It was during the 100-Mile Wilderness stretch between The Forks and Katahdin that he fell in love with Maine and its woods and waters.
He promptly moved to the Greenville area and became a whitewater raft guide. From there rafting has brought Alex all over the country to the Gauley River in West Virginia, the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, the Salt River in Arizona, and many, many more.
You can find him working in Maine on the Kennebec, Dead, and Penobscot rivers most summers and out West on the Green, California Salmon, Owyhee Rivers during the spring melt season.

“We brought my 6 yr old grandson and Alex was our guide. He was kind and was so good with my grandson. Fantastic time!! Thank you Alex!”—Lee
“Wow! This was the best day of our family vacation. Our guide, Alex Crombie, quickly gaged the courage of our family and learned we were a daring bunch. He taught us to “surf” in the current and even allowed my girls to jump out of the boat and swim at one point when the water was calm.”—Jennifer
